We had our second home study visit this week and it too went very well. We are so impressed with our social worker. She is very helpful, organized, and knows what she is talking about! We look forward to having our third meeting this next week and our final meeting next weekend already! We are more than impressed by the depth of the discussions, but also the speed at which we are getting this completed. I know there will be lots of waiting, but for now the process seems to be clipping along.
This week’s meeting is all about our journey to adoption. Why we want to adopt and how we came to choose Ethiopia. Both Dave and I can’t wait to tell her our story. It’s been a very long journey! I still have to pinch myself every once in awhile – we’re really expanding our family and adopting!
Our dossier paperwork (the paperwork that has to go to Ethiopia) is slowly starting to pile up in my little blue folder as well. We are still waiting for some birth certificates for me and the kids, but most everything else is done! (O.K, the pictures are in the camera and I need to choose some and print them…) We are also waiting for a letter of health for our kids and wouldn’t you know it, our doctor is on holidays.
We hope to have all the dossier documents sent to CAFAC by the middle of next month. (Earlier if the birth certificates get here sooner!)
Then we will be waiting for the seminar at the beginning of November. I’m getting very excited to see who is all going to be there! I’m sure there will be families like us who just missed the last seminar and are almost ready to send their dossier away. Others might be at the beginning of the process. It will be fantastic to meet the CAFAC staff who have been so helpful and form friendships with people who we may travel with to pick up our children! I’m sure those bonds will be very special to us and our children.
Our two children at home (we’ll just have to start calling them peanut and budder so they have some identity on this blog.) are really enjoying the process of meeting our social worker. Last time I wrote that they were very shy. They warmed up considerably this past week and mentioned how much they like her. They are having a great time at school this year. Both got off to a great start and have some fantastic friends. This past week we drove to Winnipeg one evening and we all spent the ride discussing baby names – a fun, but very surreal experience.
