O.K. that is strong language, but my oh my they are sooooo much work! We had our first (and definitely last) garage sale today. It didn’t help that I have the flu and thought I’d loose my cookies every ten minutes or so. The only good part is that all the stuff is out of my house so we can start on our renovations in fall. The bad part is that half of it is still left in my garage and now I have to “do” something with it. I’m really hoping that the local self-help will come and pick it up! I don’t know if they do that, but right about now I think it would be a “win-win” for everyone. They’d get lots of stuff they can sell and I’d get my garage back! Dave figured we could run the sale one more day but have a “free” sale with donations accepted just so that we clear the stuff. I’d be interested in that, but my stomach is still turning and I don’t know if I do it another day! The idea for the sale was Peanut’s. She thought it’d be a good way to earn money for the kids flights. Well, it made a little dent.
On the adoption front things are sadly quiet. We still have no idea where we are in terms of waiting. I’m still hoping that the referral will come this summer. Anyone hear of referrals for siblings with Cafac lately?
While we are waiting we decided to sponsor a child through compassion Canada. We specifically asked for a child who has been waiting for sponsorship for over a year and one that lives near Addis. We received a beautiful picture this week of Lidya, a five year old girl living just north of the city. Our plan is to visit her when we are there! One of my good friends from work also just sponsored a little girl in Addis, so we’ll be making two stops if everything works out! We hope to add to our “compassion family” in Ethiopia and keep sponsoring kids there. It’s one way to give back and stay connected to Ethiopia in a meaningful way for our whole family.
